The concepts of a smart city, Internet of things, Big data analytics to provide better public transportation system by combining all the model of transportation

Multimodal transport data analytics platform will help to overcome the unsolved issues in the transportation sector in Sri Lanka by providing a common integration framework for transportation related data and a rich analytical platform.

The system is based on hub and spoke architecture where the hub is the cloud based data integration platform along with an authentication system then the spokes interconnects transportation related information systems/ data through APIs. The data integration hub is based on microservice architecture which is divided into several individual components and those are running as independent services in order to increase scalability and maintainability.

The platform includes various data sources such as weather data, traffic and toll data, crowdsourced data, etc. The solution also integrates a location-aware mobile app, to enable the public to find a connected set of transportation options. and it uses road condition, crowdsourced data and transit data and those data will also be used in the central common platform as well.

Real time dashboard will be given with the solution. Dashboard will be used for Traffic control and planning, Policy making and Fleet management purposes. Short term solution from the project is a visualization platform for stakeholders. And with the collected data long term objectives can be achieved.

Traffic control and planning will be done by traffic estimation, prediction. Insights will be provided with different visualization techniques with collected data. Use machine learning techniques such as time series forecasting for forecasted data. Traffic Management will be done with analysing stakeholders requirements.
